Valentine's Engagement Session

This coming weekend will be our engagement session with our wedding photographer Gina from Pix of Life! I've been getting lots of ideas and inspiration from various photo shoots including this dreamy Valentine's-day-inspired engagement photo shoot via Ruffled and Harwell Photographers

Stopped by Michaels yesterday and bought a bag of goodies that I can hopefully craft into some fun props for the photo shoot. It's going to be a busy week...

Long Weekend

It's the first weekend in a while that Will and I don't have any wedding related events scheduled on our calendar. Even though we will be out and about visiting family, I am also looking forward to some time just to relax.

Have your cake and eat it too!

Lately, Will and I haven't had many hobbies to speak of (but we're working on it…we tried to pick up painting together and I want to get back to dancing again) except our tried and true friend: food. Most of my facebook pictures are of us together at restaurants or just of the food itself. We definately want to make sure there is great food at our wedding, but I am also getting pretty excited about our wedding cake too. We still have to sift through ideas, visit bakeries, and actually order the cake so I've been drooling over all of these decadent looking creations....

In the beginning of wedding planning, I didn't consider the cake a huge priority because honestly while I remember some of the delicious food I've had at receptions, I actually can never quite remember the cake from any particular wedding. But now, I am definitely excited about choosing our wedding cake!

Beautiful Blooms

Our latest check off the wedding list has been flowers. I worked part time at a flower shop for four years when I was in school so flowers are certainly a very important aspect of the wedding for us.

The first flower that Will ever gave me was a simple yellow potted phalaenopsis orchid. Orchids have a quiet elegance to them that I find really beautiful. On the other hand, I also really love, full, puffy flowers that seem to be literally overflowing with life. I knew right away I wanted a variety of wedding flowers because I didn't have just one favorite flower (or even two), and I just love the flowy, garden-picked-bunch-of-flowers feel. I didn't want anything that looked too manicured or over-done.

Looking forward to seeing our arrangement samples during our appointment scheduled for the end of July!

100 Days

One hundred days until the wedding.

After today, Will and I will be in double digit days before we are married. Almost immediately after becoming engaged back in the beginning of January, I began dreaming up our Big Day and it wasn't long before I found myself poring over countless wedding blogs, photos, and articles everyday. I have always been a romantic at heart, adoring all of the beautiful things that can be inspired by love.

Of course, Will and I quickly realized that simply imagining our "perfect wedding" and actually planning it are two very different things. Especially when we added up the tall order of us wanting to be married this same year on a Saturday in the popular month of September just eight months after our engagement, along with my perfectionist personality and not wanting to overlook even one detail. It will be quite a project-- but one I will truly enjoy.

It has been amazing how quickly the first five months of our engagement passed. Between a trip to Taiwan, family gatherings, friends, church, and meeting with vendors nearly every weekend, there was hardly a spare moment that wasn't busy. But it was the exciting sort of busy-- like the feeling you get when reading vigorously through a good book just so you could go on to the next page, because every chapter was better than the last.

With just a little over three months left before the wedding, I want to collect all of my inspiration, memories, thoughts, and just life in a place where I can share and remember them.  After all, planning our own wedding will be a once in a lifetime experience. I don't want to miss a thing.
